On Thursday 16th November, 2023, Lagos Book and Art Festival (LABAF) will be hosting the media legend, and you, a die-hard fan, will have the opportunity to sit in the same four walls with one of the producers of "the most successful television dramas on Nigerian television”, TINSEL. An advice? Get ready for an enlightening session with Femi Odugbemi — The Storyteller as an Evangelist of Cultural Recentering — as he shares his conviction that an artist or creative producer must be conscious of the cultural and environmental universe of their work to gain acceptability and relevance in the global market.

As a writer, filmmaker, and television producer, Femi Odugbemi is going to examine the challenges of Scripting, which is viewed as a major challenge in the Nollywood industry. Are you more interested in visuals? There's a film screening; yayy! Some of the works written and produced by the legend will be screened at 7pm. They include: Bariga Boys (2009), Oriki (2008), Ibadan (2009), and Fagunwa. These plays depict the practical scenario of Nigerian communities, the socio-cultural system, and the tension of livelihood. By 9pm, an interview documentary by Toyin Akinosho — Femi Odugbemi: On the Shoulders of Giants — will be screened to give a profile of the media king.
